Earlier this week, CapitalCare Medical Group and Community Care Physicians released an announcement. The two Capital Region medical groups revealed their plans to merge into a single practice.
The CapitalCare Medical Group is a physician-owned and directed organization. It was founded back in 1998. Its purpose is to deliver a patient-centered, high-quality healthcare. Presently, the CapitalCare physicians operate in over 30 offices. It has a team of 230 healthcare professionals. Overall, it hires more than 600 employees.
And these numbers may soon increase. On Friday, the organization released a statement. The February 10 announcement was released together with Community Care Physicians. And it announced the merger of the two medical groups.
Community Care Physicians is also known as CCP. It is considered NY’s Capital Region largest independent medical group. The organization is also targeted on a patient-centered, high-quality healthcare system. And it is also owned and directed by physicians.
Presently, the organization operates through 37 practices. They hire about 1,200 employees which include 250 providers. These operate in 20 medical specialties.
Both CCP and the Capital Care Medical Group are amongst New York’s Capital Region largest medical group. Their merger will lead to a giant practice. One which would operate from over 80 locations.
And would include over 400 medical practitioners. They are specialized in 30 medical specialties. And also in offering primary care treatments.
The announcement released Friday also offered merger details. These were provided by the two organizations’ representatives. CCP was represented by Dr. Shirish Parikh, one of its founders. And CapitalCare Medical Group was represented by Joan Regan Hayner, its CEO.
According to their statements, the new medical group will be known as the CCP. The merger of the two is expected to take place in the summer of 2017.
Following the merger, Dr. Parikh will occupy the Board Chairman and CEO position. Regan Hayner will be the resulting organization’s Chief Operating Officer and President.
Both released a common statement. And according to it, the merger should advantage both groups. And will reportedly make quite a lot of sense. It should help the medical groups achieve an economic efficiency. And also help them invest in innovations and technology. It will also be expanding their services.
According to Hayner, the initial focus will be to integrate the two entities. This will have to be done in a “thoughtful, methodical” manner. As such, no changes are planned for the following period. The office locations and staffing will remain the same for now. Dr. Parikh also stated that the moment seemed just right for a merger.
The two stated that they will be continuing in their mission. More exactly, they will still be looking to improve the service quality. Whilst all the while trying to reduce costs.
The resulting CCP will also try to remain independent. And also physicians-controlled. Parikh also pointed out the following. The medical group’s specialty number will increase. Nonetheless, they will continue to refer to medical experts from medical-based practices when needed.
During the announcement, both representatives pointed out the advantages of the merger. Dr. Parikh even joked that he did not foresee major challenges. Nonetheless, the merger process is expected to have some consequences as such a process is never easy.
