Recently, Walmart hasn’t been facing quite a bright situation, as it lost quite a big number of its employees due to unfair treatment. The company decided it was time to change this, so it found an interesting strategy to solve the issue. As a result, it will offer college tuitions for its employees in the field of marketing and business.
Walmart is giving away college tuitions
Over the last period, Walmart had to face a huge employee turnover as a result of different unpleasant factors. Since many of the people they hired didn’t get the chance to finish or maybe even apply to college, the company decided to solve that.
From now on, any Walmart employee will be able to get an associate’s or bachelor’s degree in fields like supply chain management, marketing, or business. Walmart has struck down a partnership with three nonprofit institutions that teach for $1 a day.
If you are interested, all you have to do is enroll for such a program without worrying about the costs. Walmart will cover the college tuition, as well as the costs for books or any other administrative fees. The company is quite optimistic about this prospect and expects around 68,000 of its employees to apply for the tuition.
Walmart wants to reduce employee turnover
There are quite a few institutions that offer education programs for companies and employees. Usually, they reach costs between $6,000 and $10,000 per year, depending on the number of workers that are part of the lectures. However, Walmart didn’t reveal any costs for this initiative.
This college tuition program is a great move for Walmart. The company sought to improve the situation of its employees and give them a chance to finish their education. Also, this initiative might convince people to be more engaged at work and reduce the turnover rate within the company. In case employees decide to leave the company after completing the courses, Walmart won’t issue any penalties.
